Ancestral home to the Proby Family for 400 years, this is an extraordinary, romantic, part-Gothic historic house with magical architecture and gardens second to none. After a chequered past the Hall has been re-roofed, re-wired and re-plumbed; the pictures have been cleaned and many pieces of furniture restored together with the rooms they occupy. The gardens have been completely restored and enhanced with new borders, hedges and topiary, an Orangery, Shell Seat, modern fountain and many interesting plants. There is also a thriving plant centre. As there is no opportunity to visit on a Saturday, we are trying out a mid-week outing to gauge response and do hope that this is acceptable to outing stalwarts. There will be a guided tour of the house, lasting approx. 75 minutes, but for those who prefer to only visit the gardens, the price is £3 less.
Cost: All groups £30.00 (to include house tour); £27.00 (gardens only)
Departure: Cranley Gardens: 09.15 / Pages Lane: 09.30
